I've been to Disneyland so many times, been a pass holder for many years and had never been here before. As a first timer I can say it was perfect! My baby loved it and had such a Fun time dancing and interacting with Minnie, Mickey, and everyone. Highly recommend. The food is tasty lots of healthy options compared to others and very convenient and clean .
I'm giving this a little bit of grace by giving it 4 stars. I've been to the cafe for dinner when it was at the GCH. Right now, it's in a conference room since GCH is being renovated. We made reservations and when we got there (after much walking and going through essentially a maze of hotels from DCA), the hostess said we could check out the food before committing since the buffet offerings were much more limited than their usual buffet but at the same price. Indeed.... The buffet offerings were more limited but we nonetheless decided to sit down and eat. They let us bring in our stroller and park it at the table. What food they did have was yummy and we went back for seconds and thirds. However, until the storyteller cafe goes back to its original location, I'd say wait bc the price is not fully worth it for a limited offering. For us, it was at least okay since we have the magic key discount.
Amazing ambiance and service! So cute inside and was a nice break from the crowded park. Pricey but the food is high quality. It's different than a typical buffet in that there aren't that many choices but the choices they had were very good (especially the salmon and prime rub) it also comes with beverages and if you ask they bring ice cream. We went during the lunar new year time and weren't very impressed with the deserts. But in the past we've really liked the desserts. My family also loved the 2 types of shrimp offered.
Quite a few hiccups along the way, but still had such an amazing time. We get into the park. Our appointment is at 12 o'clock for brunch. We start walking to the hotel entrance and realize that it's closed that meant we had to go outside of the park and go all the way around to the front of the hotel which was a long track. We finally got there and registered that it was in a new location. They were doing construction on the restaurant or the vicinity who knows with Disney. So we were just in some random banquet room which was a letdown. The restaurant itself is beautiful every time I walked by it. I'm like I have to go into this place just for the pictures alone. As soon as I looked into the banquet room. I see Mickey and Minnie dancing around everybody eating their brunch. I knew we were in for a good time. The hostess informed us that they did didn't have a full brunch like normal. We had an option to go look at the food and choose to stay or go . We were hungry and were ready to eat so we opted to stay. They had berries ,fruits ,lox cream cheese ,bagels ,Chilaquiles's ,eggs, bacon, Mickey Mouse waffles , sausage, nacho cheese, toast of every kind pastries. There was plenty! Our reservations said we had a birthday girl they gave us a birthday pin cupcake, and song for my best friend Lisa .They let us all pick a pin , that was nice . I sat down with my plate of food, and my peripheral vision notices Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Chip ! I know it seems silly 47 years old starstruck by cartoon characters. I don't even have kids , so it gives me full right to totally be the kid ! It's my theory and I'm sticking with it ! I quote from the famous Peter Pan growing up is a trick ! When we normally go to the park, we're so busy getting to our rides . We never stop and take pictures with the characters. So this was very special ! We spent a lot of time with each character. I know what you're thinking.... and you ask Crystal how can you spend time with the character that doesn't talk? It's kind of like sign language but it's Disney language and guess what yours truly is fully fluent in the language. Of course I would be. I was the only Disney princess at the table. Mickey Mouse pointed it out and let me know by tapping on my bow. I was having so much fun and I'm not even embarrassed to tell you. Even though the entrance was closed, the restaurant was closed and the menu was limited . Hanging out with the some of the main Disney characters, totally made up for this event. If you're going to book a reservation here make sure they're done with the construction. It's definitely not a cheap brunch but so memorable . Living my best life! Five stars
We went on Saturday before the closing for remodel. We had a reservation and the restaurant closed at 9pm. The restaurant had reconfigured the buffet to one long line. The beginning is fresh fruit, shrimp, multiple types of fresh salad, kid friendly food and multi side dishes. The main meat courses were prime rib and turkey . If you have allergies Disney tries to accommodate them. Dessert has endless possibilities but I love the bread pudding. Service is fast for your drinks and someone is always refilling your drinks. Pricey but a once in a while treat. The restaurant is designed like your in Yosemite with exploring phrases and Disney music plays while you eat.
The Storytellers Cafe inside the Grand Californian Hotel is a great venue for a really decent meal when visiting Disneyland. It is no more costly per person than other "sit-down" restaurants in the area and the Buffet gives you a plethora of choices to select from...rather than ordering a fixed plate/meal elsewhere. If you're at Disneyland and choosing to dine at any one of the "sit-down" restaurants, you'll be "dropping" a lot of amount of money regardless ...here at the Storytellers Cafe Buffet, if I select something I don't especially care for...I simply try something else. If I make a mistake, at a "sit-down fixed meal/plate" venue...that's it, I'm stuck with whatever I ordered, whether I like it or not. Last visit was over 5 years ago...and to my surprise, I actually feel the quality of the offerings this visit were better! The restaurant is clean and has definite appeal in layout and decor. Our Server, Lisa, was very pleasant and attentive...which pleased us to no end. Thank-you Lisa! At a Buffet, I'm always more adventurous in my selections...and I must say, nothing offered was less than "good". Of course, there were my favorites and my smaller second "plating" only had those items on it. The Dessert selection was plentiful and I enjoyed selecting items that I normally wouldn't look at. Much to my surprise and satisfaction...everything was really very good. From the Rise and Shine Cocktail Menu, I selected a Grand Candied Orange Coffee...and it was FABULOUS! No one in my party was initially enthralled with my selection of this restaurant, but by the time we left, everyone agreed that this was undoubtedly one of the best meals available in the Disneyland/California Adventure Resort area. On this occasion, in this Yelper's opinion...the Storytellers Cafe made a great impression and truly earned this "highly recommend" 5 Star review.
I am a big Disney fan and we come here every year to have brunch as a family. Yes, a little expensive especially since we went this year during the holiday pajama party. Over sixty per person is a little steep - a 3 star for the price. Experience - 5 star coz I love the characters and how we can take photos with them. The food is pretty standard. For brunch, they have the standard - bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuit and gravy, lox and bagels, lots of fruit, chilaquiles, pot roast, chicken, and let's not forget the mickey shaped waffles. We got there at 9:40am and stayed until almost 11. When you stay that late, the lunch items start coming out - popcorn shrimp, fries, and chicken tenders. Because we ate there, we were able to get our valet validated with free 3-hr parking. We walked around the hotel and took more photos since the tree was still up.
